From the the creators of some truly epic tripods, the latest release from 3 Legged Thing is a real beaut! I’ve had the privilege of trying these out for a while and they’re fantastically useful. Let’s take a look:
What are they for?
They feature a cold shoe mount, a cable hook, accessory threads and they’re Arca Swiss compatible as well as being useful in many ways. For me personally, I get enraged with having to crop a 9:16 cut for social media out of a beautifully framed 9:16 aspect ratio so a while back I started shooting with dual cameras - one landscape and one portrait side by side. I’d built a bracket for this but that is no longer required! I can comfortably fit two cameras on both the 250 and 300mm versions.
The mounting options are great for the odd occasion I’ll shoot video instead of timelapse - 1/4”-20 whitworth threads down both sides of the plate allow me to add monitors, microphones or anything I please.
What sizes are available?
There are 4 lengths - 150, 200, 250 and 300mm. All four of these are available in Copper or Darkness colours.
What else can I use them for?
I’ve recently used them on a shoot with my long lens giving a bit more stability between camera and lens with both of them connected to the same plate. I also had an idea that would involve using two cameras in a stereo pair to create some 3D work - I’m yet to try this but something to test out to keep me busy!
